Do you have a satisfying sex life? Do you have a healthy libido and often experience orgasm?

Did you know up to 50% of women experience sexual dysfunction of some kind? That means up to half of all women rarely feel sexually aroused and/or experience few, if any, orgasms. Unacceptable! It’s time for women stand up and reclaim their territory in the bedroom because we have just as much of a right to experience pleasure as our partners!

What can we do to improve our sexual satisfaction?

Thanks to advances in research and understanding of the female sexual response, there are an increasing number of solutions to this predicament.

What kind of sexual dysfunction are you concerned about?

The female sexual response is quite complex and works properly thanks to a delicate balance of physical, psychological, social and emotional states and responses. It’s important to note that although an imbalance may be present, it is only considered a “dysfunction” when it causes distress for the patient, their partner or both. Issues in any one of these areas can cause a less than satisfying experience for a woman or her partner:

Top 3 issues affecting women's sexual health

  • Low Libido Lack of desire or low libido is common, especially in older women

No Desire – Lack of desire or low libido is common, especially in older women. The body’s lack of hormonal levels, especially decreased levels of testosterone, can lead to less desire. There are many other factors which may contribute to low libido in women of all ages including emotional states (stress, anxiety and depression), substance use, illness, certain medications, thyroid problems and relationship problems. When a woman is physically and mentally balanced, she should have a desire for sex.

Declining hormone levels - Progesterone and testosterone. In addition to estrogen, levels of other hormones produced by the ovaries—progesterone (another female hormone) and testosterone (a male androgen hormone produced at lower levels in women)—are also changing during your midlife years

  Arousal & Orgasm

The term, “female plumbing” is a primitive (yet somewhat accurate) analogy for women's reproductive system. Your reproductive system is a series of openings and passages for intake and output. The most important functions are performed by the interior part of the system while the exterior acts as a cover to protect the delicate interior organs.  These two halves, the inner and outer, are designed to work together towards a single purpose, to allow a sperm to fertilize an egg. This is why sex is so pleasurable - It creates the drive that allows the continuation of the human race.

As amazing as it is, a woman's reproductive system is just once piece of much more complicated system that enables women to find arousal and achieve orgasm. The mind also plays a large role in sexual health. When these systems are all healthy and working together, it can be amazing. However, when one or more of these systems is out of balance, it can negatively impact mood, health, and relationships. Women's Innovative Health can work with you to get your systems back in working order.

Normal physical changes that occur for a woman who is sexually aroused include vaginal lubrication, vulvar swelling and increased desire for sex with sexual touch. Women with arousal issues may not experience any or all of these changes. Lack of arousal may be due to lack of blood flow or a lack of nervous system sensitivity to sexual touch.

Vaginal Atrophy most commonly happens with women after menopause. The result is a thinning of the walls of the vagina caused by decreased estrogen levels. This can lead to a greater chance of chronic vaginal infections and urinary function problems. Vaginal atrophy can also make sexual intercourse painful.

Symptoms:

It is also notable that the treatments for such chronic illnesses may also interfere with desire and arousal.  Innovative Women's Health can help you get back in the game.
